Kritzendorf in Lower Austria, the Gesäuse in Styria – for Beat Furrer, these are two places for living and for writing music. On the one hand, a space conceived and built in cooperation with the architect Gerhard Steixner and, in a second phase, with Wolfgang Bürgler – an ideal scenario for creative work; on the other, a hunting lodge discovered in the midst of a nature reserve, located at the greatest imaginable distance from all kinds of “social noise”. Each place represents an architecture that provides and safeguards a space for writing music – going way beyond its mere function as a habitation.
